For a couple of years, I illustrated a weekly column commissioned by Wegener Dagbladen (De Persgroep Nederland). Every week a food-related product was critically reviewed by journalist Wouter Klootwijk. Through this column, I learned a lot about food, the conditions under which our food is produced, regulated and how misguiding labels can be. The interest in food (on different levels) is an ongoing passion of mine.

I also enjoyed working on a series of illustrations for a cookbook project that was investigating the relationship between food and emotions. The warm comfort that food is able to give us is an obvious aspect. But what other emotions can be triggered by food? The recipes combined the effects of the ingredients with the way you prepare a meal: whether you aggressively chop some ribs or you gently knead the dough for a pie also influences your emotions.
